Game mechanics are kind of a "real time Rogue like". In the time is divided to steps or turns, and each turn everyone are making one step simultanously. The difference from most rogue game is that the steps don't wait for the player to make his move. Instead they have a short period of time of less than a second. I did this because the game supports multiplayer, and you can't have everyone wait for everyone to make a move in multiplayer. I will probably also add a "Rogue mode" that will be more like rogue for single player games. The battle mechanics are pretty simple. You need to be in war with a creature, and then if you stand next to him you will attack him every turn automatically. There is also a matter of flanking and if you stand next to more than one creature you can choose which one to attack. The war and peace mechanics are interesting. It's mostly interesting in the multiplayer perspective. There are 3 general states, and 2 specific states. The general states are Peace, Guard and War. Peace means you never ever attack anyone. Guard means you only attack those who attack you. And war means you attack everyone. Guard and war states can be overriden by the specific state. A specific state is directed at a single player or creature, and can be either war or peace. The default is war. If the specific state is war, then the general states remain the same. If the specific state is peace, then you will never attack that specific creature\player no matter what is your general state. There will also be magic attacks. Like fireballs, sleep, and lighning. Still, all close range. I am also considering making long range weapons, but for now I will try to do without it.
I also have thoughts of making terrains affect your movement, but those are the basics. I might change them in the future. Of course there are going also to be items and equipment. The game can take into all kind of directions, currently I am leaning torward calssic RPG like. But it can also turn to be ultima online like, or Dwarf Fortress like. It is possible I will just support all these directions eventualy.
