If you're referring to Alex Ness's idea, the reason I personally never contributed to that was the whole 'photo of yourself doing something related to Star Control' thing. I mean, it's pretty hard to take a picture of a computer monitor, and UQM is pretty much all that a significant number of players will do with Star Control. Just saying where I am is enough, I feel.

This idea originated from Ziper who wanted to get #uqm-arena people on the map instead of using this. Then it apparently was made into a general map of Star Control people.
