Long time visitor to the site but my first time in the forums. Love the project and great to see that there is a community of fans still thriving. I've got a few questions and would greatly appreciate any help.
1. Can anyone tell me the current status of the Star Control franchise? Who owns it, is there any development going on? Am I right in understanding that Atari owns the trademark and the copyrights to the characters and stories from Star Control 2 but Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III own the copyrights to the characters and stories from Star Control 2? 2. Is there anyone working on a feature film adaptation? Or has there ever been any development towards one? 3. Outside of the 3 video games is there any more Star Control content other than Star Control: Interbellum? Books, comics etc?
Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forums!
I'll answer your questions as well as I can, and then I'm sure someone else will come around and correct me
1. Toys for Bob, aka. Paul&Fred own the franchise, bar the name. So all the Star Control and Star Control II stuff. The name is owned by whoever owns Accolade nowadays, probably Atari. They also own the SC3 specific content I suppose?
2. Yes and no. Scott Irving over on PNF has been working on a SC movie on and off for ages (literally 10 years or so), but development on that is slow to nonexistent at most times. I'm not aware of anyone else even considering it though.
3. As far as I know there is no official Star Control content beyond that. There are some clones that are playable such as GOB, some mods for the game, the biggest being melee mods like the Balance Mod for Netmelee. There is also a faux sequel with a demo released being developed by Cedric6014. And then the usual, fan music, fan art, fan fiction, fan RPG's and forum games and so forth.
Oh, and there is a wiki called Ultronomicon.
Most of the music and fan stuff can be found at the Pages of Now and Forever, or PNF and the forum over there, Star Control Discussion Board, or SCDB. P6014 and GOB both have threads on this forum as well.

There is also somewhere the fourth installment that got cancelled. It's like "pure" first-person space shooter.

Very helpful! Thanks to both of you.
I visited PNF but couldn't find any information on Scott Irving or an SC movie. Do you know any specifics about what's being attempted?

I see, a fan film. So nothing official then? No interest from Hollywood yet?
