Hi there -
I have downloaded the installer for Windows, version 0.6.2, and installed. When I tried to run the game, I got the error:
Error: Can't create C:/Users/mc/Application Data/uqm: File exists
So I deleted this file. Then I tried running again, and got the error:
Fatal Error: Could not mount config dir: No such file or directory
Then I thought that maybe if I downloaded the individual files for content/music/voice ahead of time, then ran the installer, it might help. However, I'm getting the same errors.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

UQM is supposed to automatically create a configuration directory for uqm if it doesn't exist, but it seems to already exist once it tries to create it. One way for this to happen is if UQM notices the directory is missing and it is created before UQM has time to create it. This could happen if you are starting two instances of UQM. There could, I guess, be some sort of strange permissions issue going on here, too.
Have you tried creating an empty directory in C:/Users/mc/Application Data/uqm? That might work around the problem. Reinstalling probably won't help, as the configuration files are unaffected by this.
It's also possible that there is a bug in mkdirhier in sc2code/libs/file/dirs.c, but I would have expected it to surface much earlier if it did. What version of Windows are you using?

I am using Vista.
Yes, it creates a uqm directory whenever it's not there. That's when it gives the second error about "mount config dir". After getting this error, if I try to run it again immediately, it gives me the first error again.

OK, it looks like UQM isn't recognising the directory and is therefore recreating it every time it starts (which fails since it's already there). Is the directory really called "C:\Users\mc\Application Data\uqm", or is there, for example, a difference in letter case somewhere in the path? Have you tried specifying a different configuration directory using the -C option? Is your file system for some strange reason case sensitive?

The error it gives is exactly as I typed:
"Can't create C:/Users/mc/Application Data/uqm: File exists"
However, the file is actually located in the path described in the Technical FAQ:
C:/Users/mc/AppData/Roaming/uqm
I don't know if that would make a difference? I don't know how to use a -C option. I don't have any reason to believe that my system is case sensitive.

I have successfully installed UQM. Thank you very much for your help, Novus and Onpon4. And kudos to everyone who created it - it's looking to be as good a game as SC3.
