What a gyp!
« on: February 08, 2003, 01:01:43 am »

Here I am, the Mycon are swooping down on Organon. I want to watch the syreen victory. I sit around the blue planet at Organon... waiting. The Mycon sphere gradually settles around the system. I wait for them to come to the planet. Nothing. "Well, maybe they'll all come at once, a grand procession"
Then the mycon sphere begins to shrink, and I know I came all the way to Organon for nothing. ::sigh::

I understand it would have been awfully tricky to program in having a large number of Mycon enter the system, then have a few syreen enter and rapidly wipe them out... but I was hoping.

Well, the game is coming along nicely, aside from not being able to talk to the Orz (no Taalo shield! I can't win)
and not being able to run away from Tanaka.

I'll presume you're playing the MacOS X version?  You should consider downloading a more recent version from my site

The latest version has added support for the 'Esc' key as the Emergency Warp Escape key, thus giving Mac users the ability to run away from fights like sissy little wimps too. Tongue

I don't know about your comms issue with the Orz, however.  Have you put a bug into Bugzilla regarding it?

Just did that. Though I tried again and got a slightly different behavior, though still highly buggy (instead of freezing at the first pane of text, it froze at the last pane of text).

Since you are no longer hosting a compiled app without content, I presume that following the HOWTO gets the job done...
Thanks a lot!

Whoops!  I'll make a "lite" version of the app ASAP.

I also noticed that I didn't have the MIME type for DMG files set correctly, I'll fix that, too..

UPDATE: My wife ran her Mac out of disk space again, so I can't address this until she deletes some stuff.  :-/  I'll get it online as soon as I can.

UPDATE #2: It's online now, available here.  Enjoy.

What, you didn't see the Mycon? YOu must haver timed it wrong. I saw a swarm of the podships enter the system and approach the lush fertile planet. After that, a couple of hundered Syreen appeared out of nowhere and ripped them to shreds! It was awesome, keep trying to see it!  Wink

Oh, that's just cruel.

Death_999, I know I tried to witness it the first time I played and was just as disappointed.

To be honest, I'm a little jealous, I never even thought of going there to look at the battle....

I was also disappointed that the Rainbow Worlds didn't point to anything cool.

The Rainbow worlds simply form an arrow that points coreward in the map. Prehaps suggestion for a idea for TFB for a possible sequel?

Luki, are you possessed by the spirit of mischief, or something?

But yes, I found myself wanting to come across Thraddash and Ilwrath ships pounding each other apart, and the same with Kohr-Ah and Utwig/Supox ships. Even visited their space to hope to see it happen -sigh-

I think the lady marauder is determined to bump EVERY old post. Smiley

Lukipela wasn't joking about the talking to the creators bit, though. It was their plan to have them be meet-able at Groombridge.

Also, I think you may be confusing me with my borther Loki, god of mischief in the Norwegian pantheon. I'm more of an easygoing character. I make my lies so convoluted that noone actually believes them Smiley
