For those of you who see it's a 25 minute part I and wonder whether its worth watching, the answer is definitely a yes if you want to know:
  • TFB's world domination plans
  • What goes on in Paul's brain
  • All the cool people who've inspired TFB
I'm looking forward to part II!

Also, the rest of professor Barton's Matt Chat series is also worth looking at for the retrogaming fan.

It is indeed interesting and enjoyable to watch.

I noticed Mail Order Monsters (by PR3) is in there. I never saw that game in action before, so that was interesting as well.

Absolutely.  I've been subscribed to Matt Barton's channel for quite some time, and it's a real treat for fans of retrogaming of any type, be it PC, console or tabletop.

He does brief game playthroughs, but in my opinion his more exciting videos are when he scores interviews with these legendary game designers.  To name a few -- John Romero, Arnold Hendrick, "Burger" Heineman, and of course Ford and Reiche, III.

He had hinted several episodes back that he was going to try to get an interview with Ford and Reiche, III, so I had been anticipating this video for some time.

Love this series, looking forward to part 3.

Bizarrely enough, one of the most interesting things for me is hearing just how Paul and Fred pronounce the names of some of the aliens (and Riku's last name, which is something I could never figure out on my own). I guess I've been pronouncing Chenjesu wrong all these years (among others).

Part II is actually even more awesome than part I. Cheesy

The 3DO voices are mostly consistent with Paul's and Fred's pronunciation, but there are a few surprising differences in some places (I think every voice actor pronounces 'Mmrnmhrm' differently). However, they mispronounce Riku's name; it should be something like /ˈriku ˈnuo̯ttɑjærʋi/. In particular, Finnish doesn't have a /d͡ʒ/ sound, the dots in 'ä' indicate that it's pronounced /æ/, not /ɑ/, and the distinction between short and long vowels (and likewise for consonants) is very important in Finnish.

Honestly I'm surprised that the response to this has been rather dry.

Well, this is an oddly placed post, being in the café rather than GD. I like that they really want to get back to Star Control, but that's not news. News is them getting permission/a contract to return to Star Control.

That would cause me to whoop-de-dee and trolly bazoo greatly.

I guess the future SC should from here on be called "Star Control Returns".

I'm wondering what I should make of that "Let's call it 'Star Control Returns'". He obviously thought about the name before, but the "or something along those lines" was a bit too nonchalant for me.

It's an awesome interview, but I said that twice already. And as the others have mentioned, only confirmation of TFB working on a new SC game is really going to get people excited at this point.

I'd say getting four out of the eight or so active UQMF members in a thread is a pretty warm reception. Smiley
