Here's an idea: The Lurg are secretly like only 2 inches tall but you don't find that out until later
Here's another idea:  The Lurg don't know they're smaller than you either.

Good one.

My idea was based on the fact that they're parasites so they might be small

This is sounding WAY to Star Control 3ish with what sounds like a hybrid of the ktang and the Xchagger

The lurg are being portrayed as the single greatest threat we have ever encountered which for reasons unknown, have only recently come into the open. Going by what they say, they are so powerful a threat that the ur-Quan avoided them even knowing they have the Sa-Matra if needed. The question we should be asking is not "how can we make this comical" but "What the hell makes them so powerful that the Ur-Quan turned tail and ran from them".

You're right, you're right.  I just chanced upon the thread and thought it'd be mildly humorous to suggest that.

So, what could possibly make them so dangerous that they seem to scare the Ur-Quan?  Honestly, first thing that comes to mind is something like the Dnyarri's controlling abilities that they can't fight for some reason, or forced mental regression of some sort, to activate the Ur-Quan's self-hostile instincts.  These of course would both be just as problematic for most other races.

I think they are just delusional about the Ur-Quans.

How would the Lurg know about a human song to begin with?

Also, you got me...

When I first read that I thought “awesome!” But then someone just has to spoil the party by pointing out that it was done in SC3

For all its flaws, SC3 did have some pretty neat concepts. I can’t think how many times I thought “hey this might be a fun idea” but then realise that it was done in SC3. Hmmmm or maybe that says more about my ideas….

Well it's a bit different than in SC3, in SC3 they know they're small and hide in a big robot suit, in my idea they think everyone else is close to their size (they have no reference point for when they are watching stuff on Earth) and they are not ashamed of their size until they find out that everyone else is much bigger.

Your welcome :p

SC3 did have some good ideas but it botched them badly. The idea behind the Mycon actually enslaving the young, he Xchagger being a microscopic race, Ortog as Precursors, Races as horrifying sock puppets (Wait, scratch that last one). The problem was they screwed up the Mycon personality, the Xchagger were annoying, the Ortog was too obvious (And frankly the whole Eternal ones idea was stupid)

The Lurg need to be both very evil and very powerful, I also think there should be some connection with the Precursors having left, connection to the Orz and Androsynth and most importantly, the Frungy Championship! Smiley

Actually, you can work out the length scale from careful observation, so long as the time scale hasn't been messed with and the materials are what you think they are.

Eternal ones idea wasn't so bad. It fits smoothly into the story of SC trilogy since the Slylandro said that the Precursors were paranoid and always in rush. This idea with the mini-Lurg conflicts with some facts: They have quite large ships. It would be stupid to waste time building gigantic ships for someone who is 2 inches tall. At the time I was playing SC3, I found K'tang funny. Comic elements just don't fit into the Lurg race. They seem to be a big threat and I think they should be spooky, similarly to the Kohr-Ah.
