Smiley Hey guys sorry for any trouble about netmelee. It should be noted that if you  install balance mod to the uqm dir it will cause uqm's 'vanilla' netmelee not to be able to connect, and/or think it is 'balance' even though it isn't . At least it did for me. Had to reinstall uqm to another dir to get the netmelee to work.

Apologies to sideways as we were playing a little on our own latter and I kinda 'stormed off' in frustration.... Embarrassed
That guy is just too good at melee! I'm up for playing more too...

That's not the case at all. Chances are, either you used the wrong shortcut to run vanilla UQM (that is, one that points to "uqm-balance" rather than "uqm"), or you were playing against a host who was using the balance mod. Simply having extra files in a particular directory cannot cause problems. Of course, if for some reason you renamed "uqm-balance.exe" to just "uqm.exe" (assuming you're on Windows) and replaced the executable in the UQM directory, that's a completely different story, but I don't see why you would do that.

Not sure what to tell ya, man. I played with 2 different players, and either it wouldn't connect at all , or one of us would get the synchronization error, both using vanila/ uqm. When we both did balance, it was fine. When I reinstalled to a separate dir and redid uqm from that dir and we both did uqm/vanilla it was fine. I recall when originally installing balance that it asked to overwrite a .dll file, not sure which one, I think one of the 3 in the balance mod windows exe pack. In any case, if players get a file overwrite query when installing balance to the same dir, they may want to reconsider as it could disable uqm/vanilla netmelee . Not sure why I had problems. In any case, it works in a separate dir....just a heads up!
