Noticed the rising fuel prices?
« on: February 11, 2003, 05:44:01 am »

Okay, please don't hit me in the head right then for mentioning or even daring to post a topic about this, but it's the first time I've ever done this so far (just as an experiment) and I was wondering why that is!

Once you've gotten the high-efficient fuel cells from the Melnorme and installed them on your ship (no, not one or two modules, one in each slot!) and you fill them with only 1 unit of fuel and go to hyperspace and call the Melnorme via 'caster - why is it that you can't fill'er up from the start?

They will tell you that your tanks cannot take as much fuel as they offer you. But once you've bought a single unit of fuel and after that tell'em to fill'er up, they will gladly do without charging you (I think you'll even earn a credit) and you get a whole crap-load of very expensive fuel to unload at the starbase for 20 credits per unit.

If that ain't a build in cheat, I dunno what it is!!!

I believe these are known bugs. They'll probably be taken out in future releases so enjoy it while you can. =)

That looks like the Melnorme fuel cheat bug described here  Note that this is fixed in the current CVS, so use it all you can before the next release comes out and spoils your fun  Smiley

Thanks for the fast reply, guys!

I thought that I had read about this someplace somewhere but to be honest with you - I've lost count with all the different threads here (didn't even know about this bug-database)

I really hope that the new releases are only gonna kill the "bad" bugs and leave some of these nicer ones. After all, you don't have to use'em if you don't want to  Tongue

After all, I  a m  the Melnormes' favorite customer (so they told me time and again  Wink ), but I didn't expect them to be such bad traders not to see their mistake after they commited it (or even before that).

Thanks for taking notice and -
I  w i l l  enjoy it while I can!!!

Which part of Europe? Germany has an increase in fuel price of about 16%, whereas 80 Euro-cents are simply taxes...

To be honest, I chose the topic headline while watching our tagesschau news...

GermanNightmare: In Germany one liter fuel costs about 20 ct, plus taxes. Therefor about 90 ct. per liter are taxes with normal gazoil, with diesel the taxes are about 70 ct. per liter.  Cry

Poor people who's best friends are living on the other side of Germany (like mine).  Sad

That's a German Nightmare! But in the Netherlands the taxes are even higher!

As for Martin, you are right.

Since I live in Germany (although do not own a car) I know exactly what I'm talking about... It's on the news almost every day. Right now it's the highest price ever paid for a single liter (as for the people  n o t  using the metric system: 1 gallon = 3.79 liters), super gasoline that is.

But there are some countries whose drivers pay even more (like Finland, ouch!). Many people living in the Eastern or Southern parts of Germany go to the Czech Republic, Poland or Austria to buy gas...

Don't you just sometimes wish a 'caster to buy from the Melnorme?  Wink

Real World: Gas prices are rising from the Am. War in Iraq.

SC2 World: Gas prices are rising from the Ur-Quan Doctrinal War.

You guys hit it right on the nail.  Real life is just like Star Control!

Yeah, Luki. Saw that during my Holidays. And you're not only having high fuel prices, but also all other taxes equally high. Poor People.

But an overwhelming beautiful country.

What time of year did you visit Krulle? right now it's just bloody freezing and horribly cold. Great fun indeed. But yeah, everything is expensive here. I suppose that's just the way it is.

German_Nightmare: What a nightmare! The sad thing is that while it is so funny to watch, it's also one of the more propable futures...

Late spring. Friends of us who started 2 weeks earlier on the same route didn`t go north, because they were freezing their feets off. Actually, when we arrived at rovaniemi, sun laughed at us, and we were standing barefeeted in shorts and t-shirts on a whole lot of snow. Just loved to show these fotos to my classmates.  Smiley

BTW: According to a german boulevardnewssite (web.de), the fuelprices in the Netherlands are about 3 cts higher per liter than in Suomi. Well, my dad does not seem to count these fuelcents anyway.
