I actually started wondering about this after eading an idea for the Traddah post SC2. Some posted the idea that they might dissolve into several different Cultures, all controlling different regions of Traddash space. This got me thinking about other races and their apparent untiy...
I mean, mankind has kept together so far druing our expansion, but seeing as this began the same time as the war began, maybe it''s not so strange. And what happens after the war? Will mankind keep it unity, or will it be every planet or system for itself?
The same applies to some of the other races. the Shofixti are feudal creatures after all, and it seems to be the belief of many posters here that htey still clash occasionally. So will they too become a group of different feudal systems, constantly maneuvering against eachother? This applies to some of the other races as well, such as the VUX, Umgah, Ilwrath and Syreen... In the future, would the starmap become full of "states", or will the races preserve their integrity, and there will be one race, one sphere?
On an tangent to this, how would the Kzer-Za react upon encountering a race like this, that consists out of several warring factions? If some wich to be enslaved on their homeworld, and others wish to be battle thralls, what happens then?

The Yehat were kind of like that, but those factions joined together under their queen so they would have a fighting chance against the Ur-Quan. If a threat like that came around to a species in several factions, I would expect those states to start working together real fast if they want to survive. Failing that, the Ur-Quan might consider them seperately, but I doubt their bureaucracy is that flexible. They'd probably allow different factions to Battle Thralls as long as all of them obey the Ur-Quan, but force them all under one planet if the majority of them chose the slave shield option.

Humanity never really got a chance to expand. They'd built a few things in our solar system, and then the first war began. The nations of Earth still exist, humanity isn't united... it's just that the United Nations agreed to fight the Ur-Quan in the first war.

I wouldn't say the UN still exists. The Ur-Quan kind dismantled all of that.

Then would the Captain feel Loyalty to Unzervalt or Star Control?

It'd certainly be an intersting scenario, having to choose between your homeworld and the cradle of your species... What a dilemma for SC3 huh?
I'm still a bit curious about how the colonization would proceed... As stated here earlier, the humans have kept together during the war, but does this mean the nations have disappeared? And if they haven't, will each new planet be treated as a new country, or will several countrys independently try to colonize the same planet. In the worst case scenario we could end up with starsystems that contain thousands of human nations, all concentrated on their own goals...
I wonder if the Synth ever had the same problem, or if they were just too culturally different to even consider a schism. After all, they had been through a lot together...
The VUX and Ilwrath both seem like races who could resort to the same behaviour, imagine a thousand different Ilwrath theocracys, all bickering about how to interpret the words of Dogar and Kazon.

No, the thing is, the Ilwrath and Thraddash merged into Culture 22 - their ship is just like the existing Ilwrath ship, but the nose gun has the Reeunk acceleration effect, so it's one of the more powerful ships in the game - high offense, high speed, auto-aiming (when de-cloaking) however, it has a hard time remaining engaged... But it can loop around and leave flame trails that MOVE so that you can move the flame trail into the enemy rather than move the enemy into the flame trail...

now what i think would be cool is if all the races did a joint ship development project. you know have that build supers ships with utwig or yetah sheilds and have a maisn weapon of the human missle with thradish afterburners. chmmer butterflies and aralou engines ans so on. The new allances version of the Sa-Matra

Well, let's throw out the extreme examples like glory, furnace, insult...
What happens if you swap in limpets on an Skiff? What happens if you swap in teleporting on an Intruder? Ever thought about an Earthling with lateral thrust? A cloaking Chenjesu? (wait a moment, that means you get a GOOD herald ship) A druuge that eats asteroids? Zoq-Fot-Pik with the *Go!* *Go!* and the *dancing* in the *middle*.
