One of my favorite things about Star Control 2 was its flexibility. It doesn't tell you what you have to do, or in what order or what way you have to do it. This can be clearly exemplified in that there are two different hyperspace casters utilizable for different purposes in the game.
I noticed that in one play through when the Kohr-Ah start their rampaging that if I sat on top of a star system in hyperspace and killed every ship that came near the star until the Kohr-Ah sphere passed by completely, the system and any intractable home worlds in the system would remain un-Annhiliated (tested this on the Vux or the Mycon, can't remember).
I noticed in the wiki that there were some other observations like this, races you didn't necessarily have to be friendly with, or complete their quest chains to beat the game.
Has anyone else noticed anything like this that was particularly interesting?

We did. You did. Yes we can. No.

This seems really really really unlikely to me. Suspect a prank, or a dream.
I remember dreaming an alternate victory condition and thinking it was real for a while.

Perhaps it's because the player remains in the system, so the system generation functions taking into effect the non-existence of that species aren't called, leaving ships to remain there to talk to?

But he specified that you hang out in HS just outside the system.

Like I said I sat in hyperspace right on the star. Kohr-Ah ships charge you near constantly until the circle is fully past. I jumped in and out of the system to check to make sure I was not wasting my time, that may have affected it. When the circle was past I flew in to the home planet (think it was a mycon system) and they just had their usual "we will kill you" stuff. I was really impressed with the game as a result of this, I never questioned it being a bug, I just assumed it was clever programming. --- One other possibility occurs to me. Maybe I was sitting on the mycon system that isn't their home-world, and the eradication only destroys home-worlds?? If this is the case then this game loses one big + that I gave it previously.

Can you reproduce it? Also, note that the Mycon homeworld is at Epsilon Scorpii, not at Beta Brahe.

Shouldn't every world be wiped out?
