What is the difference between the various Star Control projects like this one, timewarp & FSCP?  Do you keep in contact and help each other out?

UQM is a (mostly) straightforward conversion of the 3DO version of SC2 to newer and more common hardware and operating systems. Timewarp is a sequel written from scratch (except for using lots of ideas from SC2, of course). FSCP started out as a reimplementation of SC2, but appears to be developing in a different direction now due to UQM.

In other words, UQM is SC2 reincarnated, FSCP started off as someone trying to recreate SC2, and Timewarp is supposed to be a better SC3.

Hmm.. I'm ashamed to say so, but either I completely missed FSCP or I'm just not getting the abbrevation...

FSCP is Free Star Control Project.  It's an open source effort for people creating Star Control Clones.

FSCP is here. Timewarp is here. Finding the UQM site is left as an exercise for the reader. :-)

I thought FSCP died when UQM was announced, but perhaps I was mistaken.. even so, it doesn't seem anywhere near an alpha version or very active.. I guess that could be because (as far as I saw) there are only two programmers working on it.

I can't find it!!!  Help, help...!   Grin

Does anyone know what sorta progress, if any, is going on at the different projects?  I'm mostly interested about TimeWarp, since the other two's fates aren't so up in the air, or questionable...  just curious.

From the FSCP site:

"We do not inted to hurt any copyrights or stroty lines..."

"Memebers of this on-line community..."

"very much like you do it trough iRC..."

Grin, is it just me, or are these typos amusing in the extreme?
