Being a dad gamer, leaves me with little time to play long games like Ur-Quan masters. If there were a version for mobile devices I would be able to play more often and battle with some friends. I know it would be a lot of work. So how about a Kickstarter campaign? I would fund the project and the UQM team would be able to focus entirely on bringing it to mobiles devices.
Edit: "IT" would fund the project. Sorry

Actually, it technically is already on at least one mobile (in the sense of being super-portable, anyway) device, it's just not an Android or iOS device (well, not mainly, anyway; it does run Android), and not a phone:
http://openpandora.org/
It also has ports of many other free (as in freedom) games normally available on GNU/Linux.
The current version of UQM on the Pandora is a bit old, though (version 0.6.2) since the guy who did the porting hasn't stuck around to maintain it. I might fix that problem myself eventually, since it would let me play netgames more often. It doesn't really matter if you're playing the RPG mode or single-machine 2-player, though (well, other than 0.6.2's "doesn't know about the gamepad because you ran the game without it plugged in" bug, but that's easy enough to work around; just delete keys.cfg).
Another portable device that doesn't currently run UQM (and also isn't out yet), but seems like it would be relatively easy to port to, is the GCW Zero:

I seem to think someone was working on an iOS port, actually, but I don't tend to care about that stuff, so I didn't pay attention to it. My understanding is it was abandoned.

I have UQM for android on my phone.
It looks and sounds exactly like on the pc.
If you're gonna use touchscreen its gonna be a challange even for an experienced player. Its much much harder to accuratly fly.
You can choose to change settings on the first loading screen (there will appear a light grey bar on top), and apply the tilt option, but then I have the problem that i toggle auto-pilot off , when im not carefull during flying threw hyperspace.
Anyways, its awesome that I can play UQM when im traveling by train
