Android Modding?
« on: January 28, 2013, 04:02:59 pm »

Hello.

I am a new player of UQM. I am really loving the game, until I learned that this game has a time limit. While browsing, I learned of a mod that pushes the time limit 200 years. I want to use it, but I am playing on my android phone. Would it be possible to mod the android version?

If not I was thinking to hook my savegame to the pc version where I have the mod installed, and place the save on my phone, hopefully retaining the mod's script.
Thanks Smiley

Sure, if you know how to build for Android phones. I don't know how that works, however. You probably want to ask the maintainers of the Android port for help if you can't figure it out yourself.

I'm not familiar with the source code, but I don't think the year of the death march is determined by a save file, so your backup plan wouldn't work.

I'm pretty sad that it ain't easy to extend the death march. I'll wait for a solution though Smiley

It isn't unfortunately, it will be necessary to apply the de-cleansing mod patch and recompile the game. The de-cleansing mod isn't all that big, so it would probably apply cleanly to the Android source code.

Darn, so do I need some experience before I can compile the mod to the Android version? Sad
