I just realized that Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald worlds were suppose to depict the remains of white dwarfs and neutron stars, which are the only crystal-like planet sized or smaller objects that we have knowledge of and also have a crystalline structure. The problem however is that realistically these worlds are incredibly dense. I know that not everything about star control is realistic, but I thought of a clever way to spin it so that it wouldn't just be a downer, or rather it would be in the gameplay. So, whenever you encounter a gem world (ruby sapphire emerald), it should display a super high gravity of at at least 500gs, but also when your lander lands on it, it should travel super slow, increasing the risk it takes to obtain degenerate matter, which is also why all gem worlds should also have at least class 3 techtonics or class 3 weather and never have a vacuum atmosphere.

White dwarfs and neutron stars do not have a crystalline structure. They're degenerate matter, which is quite different.

Their outer crust is supposedly crystalline in nature, the outer few miles of white drawfs are very close to diamond seeing as how carbon is abundant. Neutron stars not as much, but they should do have some king of hardened structure in the outer crust which if shattered would release enormous amounts of energy. I would imagine the lander would land on white dwarfs more since they usually have lower gravity.
