Groombridge Log part III
« on: August 13, 2013, 07:52:24 pm »

The next installment of my Star Control novel is now completed!

First things first. Here's the link:
http://koti.mbnet.fi/tibe9mm/Groombridge_Log_Part_III.pdf

And for those who missed the first two parts:
http://koti.mbnet.fi/tibe9mm/Groombridge_Log_Part_I.pdf
http://koti.mbnet.fi/tibe9mm/Groombridge_Log_Part_II.pdf

Sometimes when I write, I get the feeling that I'm getting better at it. Those are fine moments. I really enjoyed writing some of the scenes and I hope you all enjoy reading them.

My intention is to make an actual book of this after part IV. I'll get over the details when the story is finished.

And a big thanks to oldlaptop for proof-reading the story once again.

Wow that's cool, you know the current project 6014 writing team could use some dedicated righters if you're still up for it.

Dang, beat me to it.

Still, righters are handy almost anywhere.

...okay, that last bit was completely unexpected.

Also, footnote 6 was highly amusing.

It's not called "Groombridge Log" for no reason.

Do you have Groombridge Log in .ebup, .doc or .rtf format?

I guess .docx is as close as it gets, but the general public will have to cope with .pdf for now. If you can't view PDF, I advise you to wait for the possible book release (next year maybe).

Just out of curiosity: What kind of a setting has a problem with PDF?

I'm just more comfortable with epub on my tablet.

In the meanwhile I found a way to convert pdf to rtf & epub. I can make epub&mobi versions for tablet/kindle users. Might even make cover art too.

BTW on a theoretical level, how much would you like StarDock publish this work with their SC reboot?

I already know what the cover should look like, but if you want to give it a shot, go ahead.

I was hoping that we could work something out. I'm afraid it's the only way to get this "really" published. I'll get into that more deeply when the book is finished.

I prefer to read on my Android tablet/phones. If you use Google Books, you can upload PDFs and read them like e-books. Log into your account from a browser, and select "upload ". Select the PDF. It will then show up in your library on all device, and read like an e-book/epub.

Loved the comic, but haven't really read the text-only work.  Going to wait until you finish so I can read it all in one sitting.  Sort of wishing I did that with A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) as well as the Safehold series. >.>

I downloaded part IV just yesterday but the links here are dead. I am very reluctant to read part IV before reading the others. Are they still available anywhere?
