The Arilou soundtrack is probably the most compatible with SID sound. I'm not great with music software but I remember a time when I was experimenting with creating SID-like versions of SC2 themes. Right now I'm looking for MID versions so I can apply SID samples on midi notes with OpenMPT.

I actually had the same idea, also with the arilou theme. But somehow I didn't get the sound right as I had it in my head.
LMMS is a good DAW to make SID tunes since it has a nice SID emulator and is easy to work with. By the way, there are many tools that can convert MOD to MIDI so it shouldn't be too hard to convert one and then apply your SID sample. Then again, if you're a decent musician you should be able to play the SC2 songs by ear into a decent daw Wink.

I've joined the Protovision group quite recently, which is a bunch of C64 enthusiasts making and helping the development of C64 games. Maybe some time I can convince a composer there to make authentic SID versions.

Those are great, Vee-R, especially the Spathi. Why haven't I seen these before?

Because they were never shown anywhere... there was some talk about a proposed "races" section on the 'new' PoNaF, so that was more or less the intended target, but of course that never materialized.

Nice, Kwayne.

I liked the Doog, although I found them too shipd to be a spacefaring race wirh several colonies, and a too high regeneration rate....
But the idea...

Still, this image tops it all....

Uplift can handle a lot. But the regeneration rate was out of control. And it combined poorly with the auto-aim short-range main weapon.

If their main had a much lower firing rate but much higher damage, that could have worked. Or if it only auto-aimed to the nearest 90°.

I was playing with the Spathi design a bit a couple of days ago.
