Biodata Questions and General Complaints
« on: November 04, 2013, 08:45:30 pm »

I see from this tool where I can find biodata but without clicking on each star I can't see which planets are best to harvest life from. Biodata density isn't the only factor obviously.

I'm wanting biodata primarily because my landers are worthless across about 90% of the galaxy so I need calm weather worlds and low tectonic worlds. I don't want to just go fetch the rainbow worlds based on the maps online. To me that might as well be hex editing my save.

Frankly it's stupid that I can't ask my allies to inform me of the locations of these worlds, or safe worlds on which to harvest life, in their spheres of influence.

So I'm compromising.

I want to know if there is any kind of life bearing world pattern I can see from the starmap, and if so hopefully some kind of trend for world bearing life that's moderately safe to collect. If not I'm just going to work out some kind of ratio of converting RUs to credit that I feel is fair and do some save edit swapping.

There's a lot that's stupid about this game, and one of those things is apparently the practice of plating the hull of your landers and ships with people instead of armor.

It's funny that in a game that apparently wants me to spend 50 hours collecting metal the species in said game have never heard of using it as armor.

There isn't a good way to predict life from the starmap; the chance of life depends on the characteristics (temperature, atmosphere, tectonics, etc) of the planet.  If you're in the system, the planets with green orbitals have the best chance.

Several of the Rainbow worlds do get revealed by your allies, if you talk to them enough.  Remember that most races have two conversation trees:  One for ships, and one for their homeworld.

If you want to be spoiled, go to http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/List_of_planets; it lists every planet and the bio/RU on it.

If you want the proper conversion ratio between Biodata and RU, it's 1 Biodata to 40 RU (or 1 Credit to 20 RU).  Anything else will break the economy.

I wouldn't call it "stupid", but it did bother me that by the time you get all the lander upgrades, you don't really need to use your lander anymore...

still not there yet, but i've found it pretty lucrative to just kill sylandros (550ru per kill, that's like 22 tso crystals) with the spathi eluder.  i don't even take hits anymore.
