2015 Small War

Well, I have an interest in seeing how often fictional predictions pan out when the future rolls around Smiley

Obviously we would hope this one doesn't take place... but you never know, right?  Especially with the conflicts going on in Russia, N. Korea and the Middle East.

Hopefully nothing like the Small War will happen in the next couple of years.  I hear cold fusion finally broke even, it would be a shame to abolish the research when we're so close!

You're right - the fusion researchers finally got more energy out of a deuterium pellet than was put in.

For the smal war of 2015 - Look at the current nuclear players on the scene.  The Israelis don't have a live test to back up their status, but the leaks we've seen say that they can.  The Iranians are *suspected* to be working away at it, same with the Syrians.  The Israelis bet that the Syrians were working on it so they ordered an airstrike 2007 on the Syrian nuclear facilities to stop research.  The Pakistani's definitely have nuclear capability, but it's only to establish Nash equilibrium with India who also has it.

There's plenty of countries that don't like each other in the region - take your pick.

I don't think it's realistic at all. I mean, Detroit building reliable cruisers? Come on.

That wasn't cold fusion. That was standard hot fusion.

Well, during war, soldiers take anything as "reliable" as long as it moves and fires.
The last 60 years, Detroit built cruisers for fun, not for work. Too many extras that could get damaged.
I think this will change after the small war of 2015 again....

(but your comment did make me laugh.
When I first played SC2, I already thought that this scenario is worryingly close to a possible reality.
And the thread is not over yet.)
