I have an old, 450mhz machine, that's just on the edge of being able to play UQM - I have to try to engage when the planet is offscreen, lest I drop frames and get creamed. However, I can speed things up considerably by using hardware OpenGL and launching uqm with the --opengl flag. But when I do this the sound gets this funky reverb to it, kinda sounds like its gargling underwater. (affected sounds include menu-yes and melnorme-primary-charging, overall about 30% of them) This is with the default sound driver. (I haven't succeeded in compiling with OpenAL yet). I find this with both a CVS build from today and a ~1 month old build. What now?

Can you copy and paste the diagnostic info from the console when you hear the gargling sound?
