Star Control I on the Internet Archive
« on: January 06, 2015, 02:23:45 pm »

Hell yeah,
someone uploaded Star Control I to the Internet Archive:
 https://archive.org/details/msdos_Star_Control_1990

The MS-DOS game running in a browser emulator.

I'm off testing if it runs on this machine.... :=)

edit: you'll need the Professor Zorg's Guide to Alien Etiquette. A solver is here,

Edit: it runs fine for me. Now I need to find out how to change keys.

Hierarchy keys are 1,2,3,4,5
Alliance keys are n,m,,[comma],.[dot]  , haven't found the "shoot" key yet. Sad

Okay, just laoded a QWERTY-keyboard image, and from that I would guess the fire key would be \.
But I am using a QWERTZ-keyboard (Swiss-German), and that key is therefore totally far away...

Starflight is.
I've never seen this game before, but heard lots about it, so I'm off to play later today, and during the weekend.

Well, that's a drag. I wonder who complained.

It might have been the owner of the brand name.
It might have been someone complaining about the playability (the key configuration is in its standard form rubbish, and in SC1 there was no possibility to change it in-game, it was done with an external configuration program, if I remember correctly.)
It was upped somewhen on 27 December 2014.

I have several copies of SC1 for the PC...
But I found it interesting that it appeared on the Internet Archives....
