Basic guide for setting up a direct online multiplayer connection?
« on: January 28, 2015, 09:59:34 pm »

Years of connecting through fully automated online portals like Steam has made me lazy.

Setting up an online game doesn't look super-hard. If I read it correctly, one player sets player A or B to net and awaiting connection, while the other player will connect by inputting the IP directly (not sure if the port needs to be configured or not?). But I was wondering if there was a quick guide that can be linked to anyone to show them step by step how to set up an online multiplayer game?

Forgive me if that appears elsewhere and I missed it. I did a forum search and also looked on the wiki/FAQs and didn't see anything like that.

Thanks!

The host just needs to port-forward if behind a router and give the IP address to the other player. The other player just needs to put in the host's IP address.

How port-forwarding works depends on the router, so that's about as specific of instructions for UQM's part you can get.
