Hey.

When I try to press a direction on the pad, it works, but then it's as if the game thinks I'm holding down that direction on the pad (It continuously cycles & gradually accelerates in the same direction). I have the original Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad (Not USB). My settings are posted below. Am I doing something wrong?
Here is a copy of my starcon.key file:

try increasing the threshold to 1000. if that doesnt work try different higher values.

Ok that fixed the repeating issue, but now I can't seem to get the buttons or directions setup correctly.

try reentering the axis "#s" and "+","-" using the number pad. if that doesnt work try going to "gamepad help" post on this forum. its all in there. any ways thats how i got mine to work.=fingers crossed= hope it stays that way.~DEFIANT

I tried using the number pad to enter the values, and that had no effect.

hmmm, post your starcon.key and then post what your controller does when you press buttons.ie: i press (this way)=it does(this action) dont forget the starcon.key, i need to use that to compare it what your controllers doing.~DEFIANT

Here's what's happening:
Note: I've tried to reconfigure starcon.key to make the buttons work correctly based on what happens in game, and the buttons all do completely different things.
Control Button = Action In Game Up = Up (Correct) Down = Right Left = Left (Correct) Right = Nothing Button 0 (A) = Down Button 1 (B) = Enter Button 2 (C) = Not Assigned (Correct) Button 3 (X) = Space Button 4 (Y) = RCtrl Button 5 (Z) = Nothing Button 6 (L) = LShift (Correct) Button 7 (R) = RShift (Correct) Button 8 (Start) = Not Assigned (Correct) Button 9 (M) = Not Assigned (Correct)

this is how mine looks: "left" <Joy-AO-> "right" <Joy-AO+> "up" <Joy-A1-> "down" <Joy-A1+> there is a space that seperates the "dierction" from the <joypad>. it seems there is no difference between the + or - on keypad or keyboard. if this doesnt work im at a loss. as im not sure any more how i actually got mine to work? dumb luck i suppose? keep trying im sure youll get it.~DEFIANT

I guess I'll have to wait for the next version to use my controller.
I tried another control last night with the same results.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm running WinXP Pro.

try this: "left" <Joy-A0+> "right" <Joy-A1-> "up" <Joy-A1+> "down" <Joy-A0-> once you get the directions working the buttons are a peice of cake. if that doesnt work, post using the new config (the one i just gave you in this post) does when you press "direction"="it does this" well go from there...im not giving up just yet...~DEFIANT

Ok, when I had the exact same problem, this is what eventually worked for me:
<Joyport0-threshold2000> "Left" "Right" <Joy-A0-> "Up" <Joy-A0+> "Down" <Joy-A1-> "Enter" <Joy-A1+> " " <Joy-B2> "RCtrl" <Joy-B0> "Esc" <Joy-B1> "LShift" <Joy-B5> "RShift" <Joy-B7>
Every Joystick definition is shifted one down, except for the ESC, which does not work at all. The last two buttons work as they are defined. I am running with a Gravis Gamepad Pro (non USB) with WinXP Pro. Joystick 2 is the same story. If you're stuck, give this a try and see what happens.
