Memory leak?
« on: March 06, 2003, 07:48:29 pm »

It looks like the linux version (didn't try windows one) has a serious memory leak. Half an hour of playing multiplies the amount of used memory by two.

After a few hours, the game crashed with a "memory exhaustion" message from malloc(). As far as I know, v0.1 wan't subject to this.

Am I the only one to encounter this?

There was a pretty severe memory leak in 0.2 (leaked 3.5MB everytime you enterered planetary orbit).  This has been fixed in CVS.  There are likely lots of other leaks, and the memory usage in uqm generates lots of fragments that are hard for the OS to reclaim.  So this problem still fundamentall exists, though one of the more egregious offenders has been fixed.
