That would be a very funny ending - although I'd have to admit that I dislike that song even more than Kumbaya!

I got the impression that they didn't do that a lot.

Well not at us certainly. They had little reason for that. but among themselves... Who knows what secret rituals they had. also, since they left, maybe they fiddled with the genepool on their own and added a few traits?

Did you ever wonder why did the Androsynth call themselves "Androsynth" ?

yes, I know what you're about to say - we humans gave them that name.. then how do the Orz know they're named Androsynth? or the Arilou?

hmm!

I doubt it has to do with the ship's translator, so don't give me that answer Wink

i think the ship translator thingy would be a reasonable idea. Afetr all we've designated them androsynth in all our files? So any reference to "humanoid bipedal creatures in Vulpecuae constellation" would be trnaslated to Androsynth.

Perhaps they kept it as a reminder? To make sure that they wouldnt forget theri plights. Maybe they took a name that had been given in scorn, and adopted it in pride.

Or maybe they have another name. Just not one they care to share with outsiders, and therefore use the Synths with alien species...

I always felt it was the translator, myself.  We give names to the races, they each get to keep their own names for themselves.

for the araluo its easy they were part of the alliance.

for the orz they could probibly have known that the androsynth are the only race in the area and when you ask what happend to the androsynth. they aplyed the name to the race that was there.

in a way you told the orz the name of the race.

example:
"what happened to 'pikes peak'?"
"aliens stole 'pikes peak.'

I think the Androsynth were so used to that name, that it wouldn't be right to change it.  I mean, it may be derogitory and perhaps offensively given by the humans, but that's the only name they've ever known.  It wouldn't surprise me that they just kept it for that reason alone, and that their culture is so new and developping, that it's not like they had much of an alternative.  I mean, they have the same language (supposedly) as us and their culture is more or less similar to ours, so there would be no basis or reasoning to change their race's name.  Plus, what's in a name?  A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
