I recently rebuilt my computer and I am trying to find Project 6014. All the downloads that I have tried are broken. I have tried through Sourceforge and the official web page with no luck. Can someone PLEASE help me?

and if you took 11 seconds you would find that those don't work.... when trying to download and run these you get any error saying
"Could not install the package p6014-0.2.1-prv-content.uqm due to the following error : "http/1.0 404 Requested url not found". THIS IS A MANDATORY PACKAGE. without this package the Ur-quan master Project6014 0.2.1 will NOT run."
I have also looked for a working link and have not been able to find one.

Then I am sorry. Have you posted in those threads? They may be watched for a bit more closely by the relevant people than new threads....
(I cannot install on this machine, and am currently not interested in Project 6014...)

I have tried to run the installer from here several times and that is where I got the error message from.... it asks me if I want to try another mirror but no matter how many trys it always is missing content and can not run.... Download P6014_v0.2.1_win_installer.exe 1.5 MB.... is there something else I should be running?

I guess the problem is that someone stupidly wrote the installer to download the file, and it's now trying to download from the wrong place. You might be able to somehow get around it by downloading the content package manually, but without knowing how the installer works, I can't say for sure.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised to see folk still interested in this project.
I warned the project coordinators for months that Google Code was ending everything, they didn't listen, so I ended up actually porting it over to github instead:

Please feel free to contribute, and share!
This is not a project that should have died, I largely blame the Engine mechanics as there was a decent amount of input on game design until engine dev ceased entirely.

partially me. I was trying to get the dialog scripting system working. I gave up. With it not working in-game, people didn't have the incentive to learn it and write stuff up.

A) I said partially, not majority.
B) What actually needed to be done on the engine? UQM has an engine.

Wish I knew, there was one programmer named Jaakko who was responsible for more than they should have been, they ended up taking an undetermined amount of time off to write a novel - the end.
Ultimately it's no one's fault, there needed to be contributions and none were to be had. Maybe it's possible to revive this, since social networking and devops in general has skyrocketed over the years...perhaps a new team can be forged?
Some chains below, before the project bit the dust entirely:

For programmers who want to contribute, I have create a TO-DO list here as a starting point. Each of these items will be a challenge, we need to figure out how to code it, how it will look like, how it will fit in the interface etc.

I think if this game has to ever become a reality, we will need to grow the programming team no matter what. Yes, let's see if we can prioritize... but more importantly, let's find these programmers. By separating these items into small "programming projects" maybe we can attract some programmers ready to experiment with some of these aspects?
I can't create a story based on not changing anything in the code. I have to assume we will find the proper involvement from talented team members :-)

Please create a priority number/desire for these. Because some things (possibly most) are just not happening until we can grow the programming team.

Some of these items require major overhauls to the code. Programmer skills vary GREATLY. Just don't start trying to build a steel skyscraper if all we have is a hobbyist carpenter. Many of the recruited programmers have never contributed one bit despite their best intentions.
The codebase was enough to make Star Control 2 and the demo. It was done by working within our means. So priorities should exist based on what the writers feel is crucial to the story. Not a wishlist, or gameplay additions that would be nice. I want a new animation system, but it's not crucial to the game. It would just make it better. Most of these are great ideas but not necessary to the plot.

Speaking as a senior engineer, I concur with prioritization requirements, its more crucial than you think.

And now for something completely different, You need Help, asap. How many folk are part of the active contributory programming team now?

Nobody is contributing code right now. Our programmer is taking some time off writing a novel.

I hope you mean some other writer/programmer. If I'm the one you're thinking of, we're in a lot of trouble.
Either way, that has got to change. I'm barely qualified to work in C.

Jaakko is an absolute genius and I am very proud to have him in the team. I am confident he will get back with the team at some point as his personal projects advances, as SC2 remains a passion for him :-)
