Stardock's Star Control reboot (currently their biggest project with a ~$5 million budget) seems to be moving along:
They're currently taking applications for a "Founder's Program": a private alpha with access to game builds, early content, and a forum to communicate with the dev team.
Stardock decided to leave the original story alone and reboot the series (new canon). Even so, I figure some of the fans here will be interested in having a say in how the game turns out.

Wow, sounds like they're much more careful with the story so far than I anticipated they would be.
This makes me curious, and release in 2017? That sounds like I might have the time to actually play it then. While the founders program sounds interesting, I know I won't have time to give any input/feedback, so I will not apply.
Their story hookup in the year 2085 also sounds like the protagonist might not be Human at all, if you take the strict sense of the term knowing that there is a group of Humans not being identified by "Humans"..

Anyone get into the beta program? Just curious how early in development they are.
