That planet just rammed my cruiser!

I'm not bad at dodging the earthquakes, the fire is hard, and lightning is really annoying.
Is there some sort of pattern to the lighning or a strategy for avoiding most of it?
Any tips would be appreciated.

Be happy! Be safe! Fly Precursor Airlines! Please keep your hands and arms safely inside the vehicle. Blah, blah, blah...
With that random outburst taken care of, my best suggestion is to not mine anywhere overly dangerous until your landers are upgraded. If you must land, save your game first.

We did. You did. Yes we can. No.

Agreed - with the big screen I can survive on tectonics level 5 or even 6, but weather level 4 is a big KEEP OUT sign I will only bypass for the more valuable resources.
Now, if I'm HUNTING, even tectonics should be level 3 or less - maybe 4 if the prey is slow.
My best tactic is to have a copilot - someone who tells you which way to go. You keep your eyes on the planet and dodge things. However, as SC2 is in general a solo game, this is a luxury. If you can't have a copilot, MEMORIZE YOUR COURSE.
Figure out where you're going before you go there. Then you don't need to look at the resource map except perhaps to get reoriented after a particular long dodge or hunt.
