This might also pose a problem for my educational facilities....

Come on, SC2 isn't THAT revolutionary. This is a bit strained.

Well, much less revolutionary today than 25 years ago, but it depends on where you were living 25 years ago. Not everywhere was equally developed then (or now).

After we got the smartphones I think the world is changing very fast, and lots of people might be getting cognitive dissonance now. Simply from more developed parts of the word interacting with less developed parts.

The flow of information was much more restricted 25 years ago:

Especially before Internet became popularized, it was much harder to get information.

I don't even understand in what sense it's the sort of thing that could provoke cognitive dissonance. What aspect of it will conflict with native cultural influences?

Well... let's say your mother wants you to marry a person of the same religious and ethnic group as you belong to, and thinks homosexuals are immoral. You have a lot of love and affection for your mother, but you have gotten a lot of new information about the world, which makes religions seem primitive, and makes you think that there is nothing immoral about being homosexual.

You don't want to disrespect your mother, so you try to please her by marring a person of the opposite sex from the same religious and ethnic group, even though you are homosexual, don't believe in her religion, and feel more attracted to other ethnic groups.
