Something's not quite right with VUX Intruders...

In the story mode, they never warp in next to you like they do in super melee. Without this ability, the VUX are next to worthless. Why was this taken out?

I noticed that too. I'm not sure why this was taken out (assuming it's happening on purpose) but in a way I'm kinda glad it was. =)

It was that way in the old PC version as well.  As it currently stands, there's code in UQM to explicitly disable the "VUX advantage" in the single-player game; consider it a feature.

But they're so crappy like that! Even your starting Earthling Cruiser can go through a battlegroup of VUX. They make the Thraddash, the race you're supposed to be able to kick around, seem dangerous.

Perhaps it has something to do with Admiral Zex. According to the story in SC2, he was the one who led the Vux to many victories and was able to warp in right next to alliance ships.

Now, in SC2. He is still an admiral, but he's not leading their forces any more. He's stationed off on a far away (at least in their sphere of influence). Therefore their forces lack the ability to warp in right next to your ship.

For SuperMelee, it is assumed the Vux have this ability so they can warp right next to your ship.

Yeah...the VUX really isn't that bad a ship but it sucks in the full game.

Well, it sucks in the full game because a halfway decent flagship can take it out. BUT, against several other ships it does have a chance -- get a gravity whip, and spread the limpets everywhere until you can just come up behind and fry the buggers.

I'm not sure the Vux were intentionally stripped off their warping tactic


but the code could be checked, if it's that important..

I imagine because the computer plays at Awesome, and being warped in point blank to a fleet of VUX Intruders is bloody LETHAL....

Well, after the first one it's not such a big deal since you can keep moving. But if you get into a fight with a VUX it's your fault... they're pretty slow!

Well, as it is, it's hard not to want to bump into Vux fleets. They're easy money, even for the Tobermoon. In a lot of ways, even easier than Fwiffo'ing Mycons.

The proximity of VUX space to where the game begins in Sol may be a determining factor.  The only ship you may get for a long while is the Earthling Cruiser.  If you got off into VUX space and those ships begin the battle inches away from you, it makes the Cruise dead meat... instantly.  As well, it also eliminates the player's ability to warp away effectively from battle in the Precursors vessel, an important tactic in a battle you may not be able to win nearing the beginning of the story mode.
