Don't rename the captain or flagship, and if you do, save your game, then reload it.  That seems to clear up that bug.  Optionally, download the...I think it's VCS build, but I'm not sure, the unofficial most recent build.  It fixed that problem up for me. But i surpassed it by pressing the space bar before the "-more-" and then the message continued properly.
