resources and worlds
« on: May 27, 2018, 12:10:39 am »

I have read in one Urquan page that taking notes is useful. And that more than one page would be needed.
I have generated a few spreadsheet pages for distance calculations. As  well I have a small list of worlds visited, their type, weather, tectonics, and temp.
I came here expecting that many would have recorded their travels and that there would be a few excel files that would help.
But it seems there is nothing under resources.
I intend to later post my LibreOffice style spread sheet for that.
Does anyone object? Is there an easy way to attach a file or should I just copy and paste?
(click to show/hide)
I marked this as spoiler as the following posts would be information that would make the game easier to play.

There is a database showing everything, actually, and I'm sure someone will come along shortly and point you to it.

That said… the notes you really need are notes about clues, not so much resource notes. You will want to note where you've mined out, of course.

Well,
since Death basically asked us to point you to pages, they always include spoilers, so be warned!
SPOILERs in the following links:
http://mooses.nl/uqm/wip/js-starmap/ a javascripted starmap, you can set the star colours according to ressources available in that system....
http://cd.textfiles.com/pcgamesexe/pcge199807/STARCON2/MANUAL/RESOURCE.PDF the role playing ressource guide. Includes a list of ALL systems withressources and bio data, and other hints.

These maps incite you very much to not solve some things yourselves, so for full game experience, I strongly advise you to ignore these helps. If you get stuck, fel free to ask, and we can provide pointers of where you can get the hint needed to continue. Or directly giving the hint.

I never recorded which systems I have mined. Usually I mine at the beginning a certain area, which also gives me plenty battle scrap RU, but after that I often only mine along the way solving riddles, so it was never that interesting for me to actually record where I've mined.... But there is indeed no in-game system to review hints you have collected, so write it all down on a scrap of paper to review later...

Looks like that's actually using an adaptation of my database dump.  You can also see it in wiki form here, and there's a link to the raw CSV dump there as well; LibreOffice opens it fine.

This link is actually not a spoiler, as it is information your character is supposed to know before the game starts. It is a starmap from 2133 (22 years before the start of the game), the last known state of affairs before the Unzervalt science team lost contact with the Alliance.

The default state of the map is not a spoiler, but it has js to show lots of spoilers.
