just beat 12 avatars with 1 thraddash ship. It's great. Just let them pull you in, then just when you're about to get zapped, use the burners and hit em with fire. Really easy.

Against the AI perhaps. =)

Still, I haven't ever tried to beat a Chmmr with a Thraddash. Guess I have a new trick up my sleeve now.

Thraddash can rape AI Chmmr... human controlled Chmmr is a different story though.

Traddash is a pretty good ship against the AI since it ignores the exhaust...

But against a human opponent, I can about guarantee you'd get your rear end handed to you every time....

12 traddash ships go down to 1 chmmr...it can happen, it would with me piloting the Chmmr...

If you think about any claims about things, you'd have to compare against yourself in what you'd do in the opposite thing - I know if I tried some of the tactics I use with the AI against a human opponent, I'd have my rear ended handed to me in a lot of cases...

That is something that would be interesting - don't have the time to write it right now, but definitely can consult (it's on my list to look at the source for - how the current AI is coded) - an actual good AI ("Awesome" is challenging, but there's still HUGELY exploitable holes in a lot of the ships that wouldn't be there if a competent human was piloting...) with no weaknesses like that that's closer to what a human opponent would bring.  In that sense, I can point out another problem with the Chmmr - it doesn't use the tractor effectively AT ALL.

Another good feature idea I hope comes to pass...well two...

1) Internet match play and player rankings.
2) Videos of melee play - so we can show off Grin Grin

It still would be fairly easy to kill chmmr even if a human is controlling it. The Thraddash can outrun the Chmmr no matter how hard it tries, especially while using the exhaust. I really don't see how it would be much difference.

I would really like more humanlike AI... some of the ships on Awesome AI are PAINFUL to play against, like the Arilou. UGH. Another problem with the AI is with Ilwrath ships... the computer seems to know where a cloaked human controlled Ilwrath is perfectly. Granted, it's not that hard to figure out the Avenger's approximate location for a human either, but the AI seems to know EXACTLY where you are, even if it's two cloaked Avengers fighting each other.

Edit: And the difference with a human controlled Chmmr would be that they wouldn't fly into the afterburner flames as if they weren't there. The only way the Thraddash could force the flames to damage a Chmmr would be if they got really close... and at that close range they can get a face full of laser.

Well, what I do is get full energy, then fly in a semi-circle around the chmmr, releasing exhaust the whole time. they pretty much have to run into it, unless they're going real slow.

ahh nevermind all. If you are ever against a Thraddash opponent that is human, just stand still and it can't harm you.
If you are a Thraddash, the only way you can win is to get behind the Chmmr and charge, hitting the side, and knocking it into movement, or, you can just sit there too, shooting its zapsats until they're gone. Either way.

I'd like to see the human player who lets you shoot down his zapstats with a non-moving Thraddash. The Thraddash would need to face the Chrrm and it would need to be fairly close. The second that happens, the Chrrm would tractor the Thraddash in and it would be fried in a second.

Like most battles, just because it works with the AI doesn't mean it would work against another human.

Exactly.  That's another problem.  Some of the ships show the reflexes of a computer - like the Arilou teleporting away with the littlest notice on some shots, or the Utwig shielding when you fire with almost little logical warning...

And the Chmmr could deploy the laser to shoot down the afterburner flames that it can't avoid...

And that's the point I'm making, just because you can handle the computer AI and it's flaws in tactics doesn't mean it'll work with everything - using the flames is the right tactic, but you won't get as much damage in on a human as you would an AI - and you'd get squashed like a bug eventually with a hunam pilot who's sharp at using the tractor properly...

yea, but it's not that simple. Like I said before, the Thraddash can way outrun the Avatar. For example, if you play as bait for a couple seconds, meaning you don't move or move very slowly in front of the Chmmr, they'll eventually have to start moving, or else, as I mentioned, you're powerless. This works to a point. You have to get the Chmmr pilot to chase you. See, you stay standing till the very last minute, which takes a ton of practice. I mean, what is the human gonna do? He can't use the tractor beam in any way, then try to attack. The Thraddash without the burner is almost enough to outpower the beam. It works the same way. The human can't do anything, especially if the burner is between the zaps when you run away.

LOL... How young and naive.  This isn't meant to insult you, but any half-witted Chmmr pilot could kill the Torch instantly.  The problem with the AI is that it does not recognise the exhaust of the Thraddash Torch as a threat.  This trait means it will fly right into it.  If you can find a human pilot that is stupid enough to pursue this tactic, I suggest you castrate this person so that their kind can't reproduce and instill their stupidity in generations to come.

Don't get me wrong, I love flying the Torch.  I can do a fair bit of damage against my brother (who's a pretty experience SC2-melee dude, too) whenever I use the Torch in battle.  It's fun to zip off and leave the exhaust to swallow up your enemy.  Still, a couple shots and this ship is a goner, something the computer is braindead at comprehending.

gee, thanks, but I actually did try this before putting my word in print. My friend's not bad at melee either, and he can usually kill me in a Thraddash vs Chmmr fight. I can beat him almost every time. It really isn't that hard if you practice thraddashing long enough.

"If you practice long enough" and "It's not hard" are, in general, exclusive statements...
