Fot or not?

Sorry, but enslaving / 'owning' thousands of people is certainly a heck of a lot more 'evil' then killing billions (or billion's of billions). I disagree.
First of all, slavery is reversible; slaves can be freed. Death is not.
Second, killing billions is a lot worse than killing thousands. Of course, this depends somewhat on exactly which people you kill, but wiping out entire civilisations is certainly heinous by any standard.
Third, even a slave can have a meaningful life, if he/she/it is treated well enough, both physically and psychologically.
By this line of reasoning the Kohr-Ah are the nastiest people around. The Kzer-Za actually seem quite decent due to the degree of autonomy they allow their slaves; most of the 'fallow' slaves appear to be free to do whatever they like within the confines of their own world as long as they stick to sufficiently primitive technology. The fighting slaves only need to accept that the Ur-Quan make the large-scale economic, political and military decisions. For an individual, this is pretty much like any other dictatorship. The Druuge end up somewhere in between due to their habit of recycling their surplus work force as fuel. Also, it is unclear how well the Druuge treat their workers.

I don't think that 'true' is the right word to use. Whether or not it ends up canon, it's still fiction

Actually, I don't think that the Ur-Quan pose much of a threat to the Arilou, so the rationale that they need you to dispose of the Ur-Quan for them is suspect. The only reason they fought in the war against the Ur-Quan was to help out the humans. Once the humans could no longer be helped, the Arilou went back to Quasispace where the Ur-Quan could not reach them.

It's possible that the Arilou really are just nice.
It confuses the human races when we are given something without something being asked in return--it's not in our nature. We reject it, or become suspicious of it. But the Arilou don't have human nature--they're aliens. Perhaps it IS in the nature of the Arilou to treat humans thusly purely out of the goodness of their heart? Perhaps it's even expected, in Arilou society?
Of course, then, why just the humans? Perhaps we are the only friends the Arilou have in a cold, lonely universe...

The Arilou are evil or good. They are just trying to survive. Because they had to flee into quasispace they are dying, so they found the humans. They took their genetic code or something so they will survive in quasispace. Play Sc3
