I was thunderstruck by this news back in july and I still cannot believe it is really happening. A real sequel after three (3) decades! Also I have to confess it is such a personal relief after having spent 10 years working on the late fan-attempted Starflight III: Mysteries of the Universe project with only failure to show for it. It is as if Greg Johnson himself has heard my prayers and absolved my sins!
I imagine the Project 6014 people must have felt the same way at the Ghosts of the Precursors announcement. It is just too sad SF3:U cannot be happening side by side with GotP, yet. Both series' greatly benefited from the cross pollination of ideas between their creative leads in the past. Paul Reiche III even makes an appearance in Starflight 2: Trade Routes of the Cloud Nebula.

ive had to back track all the fan made versions and remakes of starflight over the years...ive been out of the loop. i had no idea that an attempt was made at creating a sequel. ive had so many good memories of staying up late playing starflight and star control 1 on the sega genesis. i was 17 and it was the summer of 91. takes me back, im 44 now kids, wife, work...just seems like those golden days of innocence and wonder are all in the past. i do hope this gets made as well the gotp...they've been on my bucket list for so long.

Well never mind my worries about the campaign not being where it needed to be. Mere hours later 500 more backers appeared and the pledge funding shot up. Things have grown slowly but steadily from then and now today there was another jump, this time in the form of investment funding.

Greg Johnson is running a Reddit AMA right now, so that's where that came from. It still needs more, though. I'll up my pledge even higher if it comes down to the wire. I hope others are willing (and able) to do the same.

I will too, but we really need more backers, like 4000 and above. I sincerely hope they will heed the advice of the commenters and allow a deadline extension of another month. The Starflight community, the community of such an ancient series, is still coming out of cryogenic stasis. According to wikipedia, the original Starflight sold over a million copies, so I am sure there are still many thousands of potential backers that just have not heard of the campaign yet.
