I like the following, in no specifig order.
UQM / SC2 naturally 
Rivercity Ransom (NES) - a good mix of RPG-style and beat 'em'up
Final Fantasy VI (SNES) - the best FF there is.
ADOM (PC) - 'nuff said
Nethack (PC) - 'nuff said
The UnReal World (PC) - A great "roguelike", much different than others and made in finland. http://www.iki.fi/urw if you want to know more.

yes, you're right.
Counter-Strike and other cheesy Half-Life mods, that have caused severe addiction among my peers. Thank God I am not one of them, drooling at 2am playing Counter-Strike. "Wow, headshot! 1337 1337. plz lol".
I prefer drooling at 2am playing UQM. "My eternal gratitude is yours, oh devastator of helpless beings. The game I dislike most is... Counter-Strike.
OMFG STFU U FUXHED, CONTARSHTRIEK SI TEH GRAETIST GAEM THER EVAR WUZ!!! I HAEV 2 GO GET MY DYPER CHANGD BUT WEN I GET BAC I M GOENG 2 KILLZ U TEN WAYZ 2 SONDEY AND U WONT RAMEMBOR WAT HIT U, U FAGOART HAT-HEAD!!!!!1
...kidding, obviously. Counterstrike is the most hated game for me as well. The other players are all jerks and cheats for one thing, and the game isn't anywhere near good enough to deserve all the play it gets. I'm sorry I wasted half an hour of my life trying it out.
