Huh? You mean, in combat, why do they reincarnate? Well, they claim to be higher beings, so I guess that's as good of an excuse as any.

That sounds kind of like Douglas Adams secret to flying. The trick is to aim for the ground, and then miss...

i remember when i played this game when it was first released. i was playing my brother while in super melee and i respawned arounf 12 times with the same ship and wiped out his armada of korh-ah. my brother who i was playing agianst got so angry that he declared the pkunk ship illegal. so i used the spathi instead and wipe out a other armada of korh-ah. he decided that the single player game is more suted for him.
so we first won the game by him going around minral collecting and talking and i did all the melee stuff. oh those are great memories. i was like 8 or 9 at the time.
how the pkunk do it: they are so atuned with the unizerse and their bodies that when they bit blasted to tiny pits they can pull themselves back together.

Theoretically, any structure, living or nonliving, can be copied using some sort of reflection/refraction effect with the individual molecules that compose it, right? Basically if you copy the structure of the subject to the finest detail, you can replicate it in theory? (I don't claim to be a physicist)
I figure the Pkunk have some sort of device that takes a 'snapshot' of their vessel in pristine condition, and recreates a copy of the vessel when the vessel is destroyed, though without enough material and energy handy, the process would have to be scrapped. Also there might be some sort of unquantifiable, intangible energy that functions on some abstract level that dissipates into the environment if it doesn't have a similar host in which to occupy shortly after the original is destroyed, which would explain why the recreation effect isn't constant and---
Ah fooey.
The Pkunk are part gods. That's how they do it.

We are the Ur-Quan Kohr-Ah. Our nature, the fulfillment of our fate requires your destruction. You are filth. It is now your time to be cleansed.
