Hah, Zebranky Food, I like it Smiley

Firslty a big thumbs up to the fella's who brought this classic back to the forground! Stumbling across the sc2.sourceforge.com site was like getting a birthday, christmas and easter etc all at once! Smiley

Anyway, to the reason for me regestering and posting.

I'm having some trouble  and I was hoping for some advice... I've completed everything there is to do so far except wait for the pkunk to reach yehat space. Once that happens from memory I believe they both join the alliance yes? Not that big a deal though as I dont really need or want any more of their ships.

Anyway, that doesnt really matter. I'm after strategic advice. I've got to take out one of those circling dreadnaughts before I can get to the Sa-Matra. I did this originally {cleared out 3 stacks in fact} with the Main Ship and her hellbore guns. Stupid me they restock those stacks once you leave the system. I release the Chrmmr, and thats it, my big ship is no more...

Hrmmmm, crap, im ranting. Ok, to put it simply, what methods/ships do you guys use to take out those 14 odd Dreadnaughts?

The only ship I seem to be doing well with is Fwiffo Eluder, and I only have one! Doh! I can only take out about 5 at most before attrition wears the Eluder down. From there I throw pkunks at him which is fine for taking out fighters, thraddash, likewise good for fighters, but any time these two get close to the dready they get blown to smithers.

The Chrmmr Avatar... geeze, a match for the Kohr-Ar and Ur-Quan my foot Tongue They get blown to hell! Even my favorite {out of sheer coolness Tongue} Orz are real no match when there are THAT many Dreadnaughts to take out!

Ack, reached a stall... I guess I should go and practice some in Super Melee, but any tips would be greatfull Smiley

No spoilers here...

You need another alley.

Talk to the Arilou, they will/have told you about something/someone which may be able to help you.

OR

If you want to miss that part of the game, just use the utwig juggers, they demolish urquans.

**Semi-Spoilers Below**

Go talk to the Umgah, you need something they have, so to speak.

**Real spoiler**
The Arilou gave an injured talking pet to the umgah, they fixed him up, better then normal.  Now he is in control of them.  You need it to create a distraction.

Thanks for the quick replies Paxtez Smiley Yeah I've got all the gear, talking pet and all.

Hrmmm, last time I used him in there he said he thought I'd get the snot blown out of me if we went along with it now... ahhhh of course, that was before I had the bomb enhanced by the Chrmmr. Now he will probably let me do it.

I didnt think of it this time because the Dreadnaughts are actually sort off easy to kill with your ship normally Smiley

Oh and one other thing, the Pkunk dissapeared {yes the Yehat are in civil war after the Shofixti were returned}, I flew into their sphere and just got attacked as per usual. No difference. I hunted through the board and found this:

" But don't be alarmed when you see their sphere of influence completely disappear; as long as Commander Hayes doesn't say anything about people losing conciousness in the Starbase and as long as the civil war is at least in some effect, everything will turn out great. "

The problem is... I just went back to the Star Base and the Commander DID mention that the 6 Espers had lost consiousness. I take it thats a "Bad Thing" ? Sad

Strange, I ran the Prec. Vessel into the mouth, and it went straight to credits. I take it there is no ending yet?

-Very- bad thing. The Pkunk have just become perfect.
Just watch. In UQM2, they'll be the ultimate villains, just as vile and nasty as the Ilwrath.

And meanwhile, the Ilwrath got SO mad at the Thraddash that they got worse and wrapped around to ultimate good again!

eh?
Pkunk? perfect? no, not really

the esper overload is due to the Pkunk being/soon to be absorbed into the Yehat. Nothing about perfecting them!

Though it would be an interesting sequel, the Pkunk have learned the Ilwraths' lesson well, and therefore would not make the same mistake. That's why the curse all the time Tongue

I know, but the Espers feel that something VERY WRONG has occurred, and to my knowledge, nothing VERY WRONG actually does occur (assuming you revive the Shofixti) since the Pkunk survive the re-unification. So I like making up my own 'explanation'.

Besides, the Pkunk aren't alway right. They said that you'll die at an early age, and there you are, telling your grandchildren stories about back in the day.

Just because you die at an early age doesn't neccessairly mean you have to stay dead.  The pkunk sure don't.

Like I said, the long coma you are in probably counts as death.

I just like to argue. *laugh*

This is a question I've always wanted to ask... now is a perfect time to ask you, K-P, since I don't think I'll ever find another female SC fan.  Considering that you are the Captain in Star Control II, did you name your captain a girl or a guy?  I mean, it's not really fair that all game-long you're being called a guy when you certainly aren't.  Would that be a traumatic and scarring experience?  I could only imagine...

I usually call the captain 'Rage'. Like I said in an earlier post, I often name my female characters that, and it fits for males too.

Besides, why would it be traumatic? Do you get traumatized whenever you play a game like say...Metroid?

Or are you referring to the whole Talana sex scene? Tongue
