There are four ways to get where you're trying to go:
  • Install from source.  Don't worry, it's not that hard at all under Linux, you've just got to make sure that you've got "development" versions of all the prerequisites, which are listed here.
  • Install the binary release.  This was built against Slackware, not Mandrake, so the libs it's looking for may be different than what you have installed.  But you can install the "non-development" versions of your prerequisites, also listed here.
  • Build an RPM.  This is basically the same as building from sources, but you can share the fruits of your labour with other Mandrake users, which they might appreciate.  Oh, I suppose I should mention that it might not work.  Smiley  Details here.
  • Download an ISO image of the game and play it.  Requires nothing more than a CD burner, but you can't currently save games with it in any "permanent" fashion, at least not without fiddling with it a bit.  Details here.
Good luck!

Ok, so since you're new to this, I'll just assume you want to compile version 0.2.

1.) Download the source http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sc2/uqm-0.2-source.tgz?download

2.) Type: "tar xzf uqm-0.2-source.tgz" from the directory you downloaded the source to.

3.) Type: "cd uqm-0.2-source"

4.) Type: "emacs doc/users/unixinstall &"

5.) Follow the directions outlined in the file.

You've got to be kidding.

Slylendro: just do "less doc/users/unixinstall" for that step.

You could use less, too Wink. But you may want to do that in a separate console so that you can read the instructions while still messing around with stuff from your command line.
