Starship Selling?
« on: December 02, 2002, 08:24:21 am »

Back in the day I played the original PC version of Star Con 2... I don't know if it wasn't incorporated with the 3DO version of the game or what, but has the ability to sell ships been removed? Or was it simply not there to begin with, in the 3DO version?

It seems kinda cheap, but my favorite tactic of gaining RUs was to sit there and "borrow" those much needed ships from the various races (particularly the Umgah... waste of fleet space) and pawn them at the starbase.  Grin

You just gotta unload the last of it's crew at the starbase.

I remember a trick where you go to the Phunk home planet and they give you 4 ships, you could go back to SOL sell all 4, then return to the Phunk planet and they give you 4 more.  Repeat until filthy rich

Strange, I never managed to get them to offer any additional ships beyond the first 4, even if I visited them over a year later as I've been told you can do.
But you can also do that trick with Yehat rebels I believe.
Though by that point in the game I doubt you'd need RU that badly.

Yes, but meeting Yehat Rebels often leads to an unreasonable guessing of which sphere of influence is which or the chance of running into evil Yehat Loyalists. Since fighting CPU Yehats is an effort beyond futility even for the Chmmr killing power-gamers at these forums, you run great risk.

The sphere of influence on the right is the rebel one. Problem solved.

That's what the "ESC" button is for.  Either that or just peg the Terminators from long-distance with your hellfires and it won't shield like it would at short-range.
