I know Fred and Paul have said that Babylon takes from them, but I cant find anyone pointing out the episodes or plots or what have you. Anyone know what this is about?

3From the 1998 IRC chat with Toys for Bob (Fwiffo is both Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III here): <Manta> Fwiffo: Has anyone ever brought up parallels between Babylon 5 and Star Control? <Fwiffo> Babylon 5 causes a certain amount of stomping around the office screaming. <Fwiffo> Babylon 5 steals from us. We steal from known space. <Fwiffo> And Larry in known space steals from others.
Ok thanks. perhaps when urquan3 comes out and if it gets more attention this might become an embarrassing truth to the show makers. Tho fred and paul have said that the next game will be aimed more at those from the urquan masters. So maybe not so much mainstream attention
As much as I respect Fred and Paul, they have not invented EVERYTHING in Sci-Fi. In fact, being sci-fi-nerds, they should be familiar with the concept of parallel evolution. One of my favorite authors, Alistair Reynolds, wrote once that all good authors steal, or let's call it, are inspired by something. Fred and Paul were certainly inspired by what came before. There is no embarrassing truth in existence here. Your argument mirrors the senseless debate between StarTrek and B5 fans some 20 years past.
SCII is really really great . But it is not the pinnacle of all Sci-Fi nor is it the alpha & omega of all creative writing.
