This web forum's security certificate lapsed yesterday, my browser (safari, iOS) doesn't want me to visit this site...

Hate it when that happens...

I can't recommend this free service from eff enough. https://letsencrypt.org/
Used with the certbot on the server, it can automatically renew every few months.

A lot of hosts have automatic scripts for this sort of thing eg. nearlyfreespeech.com
