ASCII uqm

Anyone know how to get uqm in ascii mode?? I've seen the screenshots and now i want to try it.

It didn't work all that well for me, but then again I was trying to get it to not go into ASCII mode.
Short form, you need to be running some flavour of UNIX-like OS, and your SDL library needs to be built with support for aalib. Then you set an environment variable named SDL_VIDEODRIVER to the value 'aalib', and run the game from a text console. Violent action ensues.
Also, this post really belongs in the "Technical Issues" forum. Please be mindful of the distinction when posting in the future.

Where are these "screenshots" of an ascii mode UQM of which you speak. And of this ur-Quan Nethackers of which both Death_999 and meep-eep have joked, please tell me that such is not a joke, but infact a playable game somewhere. Such would rock.
