The secret to the perma-blazer bug is that the DOGI needs to, on impact, drain all of your batteries. If you smack into a DOGI in blazer form, but still have energy remaining, the Guardian will convert from Blazer mode properly. For more info, see Bug #283
So, to activate the perma-blazer bug, run down most of your batteries in blazer mode, then when you're almost dry, run into a DOGI.
Happy hunting, but get your fun in now, because I plan on finding the underlying cause and fixing it before 1.0 comes out

Early on in the game, fighting the Slyandro was a bitch and a half. This is before your Precursor ship has sufficient turning+speed, upgraded cannons, or target tracking. You can beat it without any loss of life with a Spathi ship, but it's an extremely slow, methodical process.
Fighting the Mycon is a tad annoying since the AI is programmed to always stay as far away from you as possible.

fighting the probe with the spathi is relativly easy. just go in a strait line, if the probe turns to intercept you from the other direction, do a 180 just before he leaves the screen on the otherside and hell slowly gain on you. when he starts to weave back and forth thats when you give him the butt torpdoes. the idea is to get him in range and keep him there, if for any reason you gain speed or he hits an asteriod hell change direction. we were giving the choice of recruiting the spathi for just that purpose. just think of all the earthling cruisers you'd waste trying to kill just one probe.
1] oh and i hate the fighting the mycon with a chenjesu, they stay on the out skirts of the screen and well i couldn't hit the long side of a barn. 2] over all, it would have to be the yehat, they shield everything so it makes getting a well placed shot hard. ~DEFIANT

Spathi? What spathi? You're imagining, hunam.

In melee, I dislike fighting the druuge, personally. That danged cannon just makes em fly all over the place. The slyandro, spath, and arilou are also annoying as heck to fight. I'd much rather lose a quick battle then fight a long, drawn out, boring duel.
In the story mode, only the slyandro are a problem, and only early on. By the time anything else would be a problem, my mothership is in pure combat mode, and vaporizes them hands down.

Omni, an easy way to slaughter the Chmmr is the Druuge. 7 or 8 shells is all it takes... If they pull you with tractor, turn to face and fire! The recoil will pretty much negate the beam if you time it just right (about 1 a second, unless you're already moving fast as hell, then rapid fire about 3) and the Zap-Sats aren't strong enough to stop that huge shell, so you can pound the hell out of them, and they actually HELP you do it!
Another fun way, just off the top of my head, is Thraddash. Even on Awesome Cyborg, they're still dumb enough to fly straight into the flame trail, probably because they want to keep a solid tractor on you (not whip you, but pull you straight in.) Just make sure NOT to run out of gas, or you're screwed.
