Damn there are some ideas that I hadn't even thought of!

Just a point, I'm an amatuer and I've only recently started figuring out character modelling and animation so some things right now I'm having a hard time figuring out, like the shofixti.  I have NO idea how I'm gonna do all that fur!

But seeing the Shofixti blow up their sun I'd probably do a bit more serious.  I just don't see massive suicide as being particularly goofy, even if it is the Shofixti. Tongue

You asked for it. Besides you don't have to do all of these ideas. People will gladly post 100 ideas, as long as they aren't asked to actually do anything more than that.

And, if you don't mind, Let me do the Shofixti one. I posted the idea in the first place, and have been playing with character sheets and whatnot since I did. I haveactually been toying with the idea of animating some sequences myself, long before this post.

Personally, I'd handle the character animation problem by 2-d character animating with 3-d ship sequences and backgrounds.

However, I'm looking to toy with the style a bit. I want to make the ships a bit more 3-d (while keeping mostly the same look from direcly above) and the characters with a more cartoony style (disney's tarzan or anime, not bugs bunny) that would be easier and faster to animate. I suppose since it's my ideas and animation I should go ahead and do my own thing, but if I did that would there be anyone who wouldn't turn against me and tell me I wasted my time?

I've been thinking of doing this for a while too but I'd be REALLY intrested as to how you approach the same story as I do.

I'll come up with my own story of how it should play out so it's really a moot point.

Besides, I've decided to make these shorts tell the story in chronological order up to the point where they crash onto Unzervalt and then flash backs to tell what happened in the interveneing 20 years.  My point, you'll make it to the Shofixti LONG before I do!

One other note, I'll be comitting sacrelige:  I've decided to redesign all the crafts and some species.  They'll still look very similar to what your used to and you'll be able to instantly recognize the ships.

Please don't skin me alive!

Exactly what I was planning. (But you said it better than me.) I thought SC3 got way to dark and serious and I'm whiplashing in the other direction. I'll be posting character sheets as soon as I make some formal ones before animating. The general style is more fit towards animation.

Concerning re-designs of ships, some artist came up with some re-designs that he posted on a website a while ago including a Korh-ah that was much more angular and he had a little animation of the F.R.I.E.D. in action. Does anyone know the link?

*sighs* True, the Kohr-Ah should remain a mystery. Still, I had wanted to see a Marauder close with a fleet of enemy ships guarding a planet, whilst you overhear the panicked pleas for mercy and bargaining over the comm channels go unheeded entirely.

The Marauder would begin launching gargantuan spinning black metal discs at the ships, and switch to a scene of crew members running and shouting with panic back and forth as tremendous ship-sized disc slam into their ship, and explosive decompression sucks out all of the crewmembers into space moments before the ship explodes.

Then switch to the scene of that same planet, where members of the alien race are going about peaceably amongst their daily lives, oblivious to the fleet that is suddenly growing larger in the sky. Suddenly a tremendous metal disc slams into the midst of a city, traveling at tremendous speeds and causing a tremendous impact crater with it hits. The disc is followed by dozens and then hundreds more as the beings on the planet scream with panic as explosions erupt all over their planet. After long moments the smoke begins to clear, and you see that the whole planet is devoid of life, charred and smoking with scarred craters.

I'm sure the same thing could work with a Deep Child bursting its way out of Beta Copernicus. Though you'd also have tentacles fly out of the smoking caldera and latch onto the surface of the planet as the Deep Child wrestled its way out.

What about rendering "glory sequences" for each ship ?
I.e show an ur-quan in action using both its weapons.

Each animation would show off exactly what each ship is capable of.

In the end we would have an animation for each ship which could be used in game to "examine" ships, asin the stats pages in SC1 melee.

Bonus: we get to see a cool space battle for each ship in the game.

There is an animation made by Tsing, showing the Sa-Matra obliterating 3 CHMMR Avatars.
You guys want me to host it somewhere?

Now that is a good idea. The Utwig Jugger video should definitely be against a Chmmr Avatar with no casualties taken simply because that best demonstrates the Jugger's usefulness.

Posting the Sa-Matra thing sounds alright. I'd imagine you could care less if I want to see it or not after what was said in another topic, but if a few other people show interest you should.

-The Orz blasting the 'Synth world, with the Synth fighting back and eventually being mostly destroyed, a large white portal with Orz ships guiding the Synth toward it, and then...fade to black. Dont know if it would ruin the plotline at all, but hey.

-A Supox Blade charging a Dreadnought, then totally suckering it into a reverse chase, gunning it up somewhat, then a Jugger coming in out of nowhere to finish it off.

Yes, seeing the Thraddash Pilot (whatever his name was) discovering the afterburner. *pokes his head into the engine portal* "Eh, heres da problem! Da fuel line is loos-"*BOOM*

More ideas later, I gotta run

subtitle, black background:
"100,000 years ago..."

A planet fades in, a few satellites buzzing around.
A whooshing sound is heard, a  satellite flies right infront of the camrea, shortly before being torn to pieces by a strange star shaped weapon.

Several strange black ships take up orbit of the planet, and are charging weapons.

All of a sudden a hail of fusion blasts comes from off screen obliterating 2 of the orbiting black ships.

"We cannot allow you to commit this act Kohr-Ah. Enslave, yes. Destroy, no."

The Kohr-Ah reply: "Submit, or die"

A fierce battle ensues.
Fade out.

A Pseudo intro..

not intro -- that should be something that Greenish shows you...

Actually, most of these could be things Greenish shows you.

-A Slylandro Probe zapping some poor ship (Umgah? Ilwrath?) to ashes, then duplicating and moving on.

-The Yehat Civil War. Watching a swarm of Terminators go at it would be great. Possibly have the Royalist Terminator winning, then the Pkunk come in to the fight to help the Rebels, smoke the Royalist, and tell their brothers "We're baaack!" Possibly, if the war isn't going on, they go to the home system and get eradicated.

-A Mycon Deep Child hatching, causing massive upheaval on the planet. Have some scientists (maybe Syreen?) looking at the crater when all of the sudden gouts of lava fry them, then pan out to see the entire planet's crust cracking, lava flows, and general pandemonium.

-An Ilwrath ceremony to Dogar and Kazon that has a lot of self-mutilation (hehehe).

-Something with the Druuge fighting in space, maybe against the Kohr-Ah. Have the commander of the Mauler ordering for firing, show the ship recoiling, the shot hits the Marauder. Back to the interior, the sub-commander tells the captain that the power levels are too low. The captain looks coldy at some poor soul working the flight controls, and points at him. Next scene is the furnace, then all of the sudden, the body flying in and *RRROAR* "fuel levels back up!"

GTG again

EXCELLENT IDEA Death_999 !

We could render these videos to replace parts of plain old written text with video and narrative by the alien who is speaking it.

Thats a cool idea.

Uh, which Greenish are you talking about. You talking about the Melnorme in the game or someone on the boards who's handle is Greenish?

Since he's talking about the game itself, I would assume he means Trade Master Greenish of the starship Inevitably Successful In All Circumstances.

IS there someone here with a handle Greenish?
