Speed Test :)
« on: May 11, 2003, 08:25:27 pm »

pretty long time ago, i ran a Speed test on sc2..
i just wanted to post the results here so..

rules: every ship fights against the "sitting duck" (it cant move, shoot, or use special powers, basicly a modified Podship Smiley )
i counted how much seconds the ship takes to blow the sitting duck (in FRENZY mode!)

so here are the results:

Vux                 2.5
Umgah            3
Ilwrath            3
Orz                 4
Yehat              4
Chenjesu         4
Chmmr            4.5
Korh-ah          4.5
Utwig              4.75
Syreen            6
Supox             7
Pkunk             8
Zoq-Fot          8
Ur-quan          8
Arilou             10
Thraddash      10.5
Mycon           10.5
Slylandro       12
Spathi            14
Druuge           14
Earthling         17
MMrnMhrm   18
Androsynth     21
Melnorme       22.5
Shofixty          Did Not Kill (died Smiley )

I know of no frenzy mode. Also how many runs did you repeat with? It looks like the Ilwrath started close, and the Ur-Quan far away... this random effect will be reduced if you do repeats.

Frenzy mode in PC SC2 melee is essentially normal combat, but with the delay code off; the game runs as fast as possible. It's started by adding the /frenzy parameter to the command line, I think.

In other words, the scale of this is determined by the speed of his computer. Great.

its not..

and the goal of the test is to see which ship is the fastest, not to actually get the timing results...

you could run a test yourself, ofcourse

edit: i ran 2 tests for each ship, then ive taken the averages of em...

ah. 2 isn't a statistically significant number of samples... Anyone else want to pitch in some more measurements?

if someone wants to do that, he should restart the test all over again, because frenzy's speed is affected by the comp you have

It shouldn't be too hard to change your own uqm source a bit to have it keep statistics and let it fight battles of your choice automatically.
Define the average score to be 100.0, and you'll have pretty nice statistics if you leave it on overnight.

The point isn't the comp. speed, it's the relative measurements.
