General Question
« on: May 08, 2003, 01:11:10 pm »

Hey everybody:

Please don't hurt me, this is post #1.

I read your FAQs.

I tried to use Bugzilla, but it is obviously way beyond my technical ability, I queried it for "battle" and found only one report that has nothing to do with what I want to say, the words "component" "resolution" "severity" and "status" have no meaning to me.  I study economics and government, I know nothing at all whatsoever about computers, except that I like games.

Ok all that being said.  I realize how exhaustive a work this is, and I am amazed.  I just spent the last 72 hours barely sleeping, neglecting finals and beating the game.  It really is a cool cool game, even the variant philosophies and such, how they all blend together, what a neat world--

However and you knew there was a however, I have done a lot of reading, of the manual, of people's comments, I've even devoured all the sites on Pages of Now & Forever--and I feel like I am missing out on SO much because of a simple fact: whenever I go to the battle screen after 5 seconds, no fail, there is an error!  I can't even cut and paste the DOS scripts screen so I can't tell you why it is except to paraphrase:  It says DCQ overload, sleeping until renderer is done.

So, anyhow, I have to say, I am really sad and kind of disappointed, in the words of the manual, I feel like I was wearing a raincoat taking a shower.  Without the fighting, it is really like Dune 1 with more humor.  Anyway, I hope you all can fix it if you got the chance.  I didn't mean to complain, I guess I just finished it at such a breakneck pace and now that I am done, I feel kind of empty.

You all take care, and once again, I recognize the exhaustive amount of work that went into this.

You know what, this was one site I never thought to check and I just found Striker's version, it works great--I feel ridiculous--unfortunately for my finals, I am on the way to another 72 hour session of re-beating the game now that I know this :P  See you all --Paul
