Wow! I didn't think anyone but me actually heard of MoM! It was one of the only knock-offs I really liked. I've been looking for it for ages (the new "Age of Wonders" games just don't do it for me...). If anyone here knows where I can get it, and get it working, I'd be eternaly greatful (not the Spathi version, the Umgah one... ).

Haven't played any new games, really.. Practically only game I play currently is VGA Planets. (Computer players always have some flaws, human opponent's is the way to go!) My all-time favourites also include: Civilization, Master of Orion, Colonization, X-Wing, Nethack, One Must Fall 2097, Heroes of Might & Magic 1-3 & Slicks 'n Slide. The first Star Control's full game was imo very nice, at least with a (good) human opponent. I'd really like to see a re-release of it as well, with network play. Maybe after UQM 1.0 is released, some capable programmers could make one? Petty please.

oh yeah, I just remembered, another one that nobody is mentioning--I actually liked Dune 1 also--it almost reminds me of a rudimentary star control a bit, a story tied in with flying from place to place to get and manage resources and building alliances along the way unti you are strong enough to fight the big bad guy at his big battle station whom you have known about all along.
As far as a copy of Master of Magic--I have a working copy installed on my computer, I wonder if I just saved it to disks if that would be a "working copy"--but since its old you have to mess around with extended memory and all that other stuff--I guess you all already know all about that.
This place is great~ its crazy how all you old time gamers hang around here.

I know, and I'm only 21, but not all of our age cohort was productively involved, busy blasting through games when they were young. Actually my fondest memories are of being like 6 (this is going to make some of you feel a bit older I suspect) and watching my cousin play all his Sierra quest games, and bugging the heck out of him pointing out things he could do, especially when he was stuck and I was right, I would get pushed out of the room pretty quick. I think my first inkling of "sex" or something *improper* between men and women was when he wouldn't let me watch him play leisure suit larry. On that subject--if you really like the humor of Duke Nukem 3d you might like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, a lot of goofy humor, and a lot of adult humor too.

Just thought of something...
Have you ever played Lavamind's trilogy of weird business sims: Gazillionaire, Zaplitalism, and Profitania?
Definitely some of my favorites.
Now if they can just combine the economic models created by Lavamind with a space sim like I-War or Freelancer it would be one hell of a game.

OK...I'll bite.
Obviously SCII is in the running, since it's the only one I'm still playing today. I do tend to like separating my games into PC and console camps (just 'cause I'm a segregationist I guess ).
PC (No particular order - well, except alphabetical ) Archon Bioforge Counterstrike (even though I suck) Curse of the Azure Bonds Fallout 1&2 I-War The Last Express Lost Vikings Master of Magic Paganitzu Planescape:Torment Secret of Monkey Island 1-4 Starflight TES : Daggerfall TES: Morrowind Tetris Ultima V Ultima Underworld 1&2 X-Com
Console - Mainly PS2, some PSOne Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain Harvest Moon: Back to Nature Ico Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Rez Silent Hill 1& 2 Shadow of Memories Sheep Dog 'n Wolf Soul Edge/Soul Blade Space Channel 5 1&2
Sorry for the long post. But I thought it was interesting that my console favs were very different from my PC picks, which tend to be quite darker (well, except for Silent Hill on PS2/PS1).
And I hate that Ikaruga and Super Monkey Ball are Gamecube only, as I'll never buy a cube, but want to play those games desperately...

Voldenuit,
If you are a guy, I tip my hat to you. It takes a real secure man to admit being a fan of Space Channel 5
