Zot-Fot-Pik question
« on: June 03, 2003, 10:23:37 pm »

[early-game spoilers follow]

Played SC1 back in the day (Go Spathi!), just picked this release up and am enjoying it immensely. In my game, I just found out that I took too long to get back to the Zot-Fot-Pik homeworld -- it has been wiped clean. Does this pose a problem for my solving the game, or was it something that was more or less bound to happen?

Neither.  If you wanted to fly a Zoq Fot Pik ship, then it's a problem, and they might have helped by giving you information (which you can get elsewhere).  There are very few unrecoverable mistakes in SC2 when it comes to letting races die off.  The biggest loss to your game is all of the poor dead wood jukes and tree narfs.  Cry

You're probably better off with them gone! Otherwise, they whine all the time because they are getting attacked and you have to go to their rescue. What a pain.

Not to mention, if you run into them right at the beginning, then they yammer for help LONG before your flagship is likely strong enough to take out a Marauder.

*rolls eyes* Of course, you could always send the 'Incredible Fwiffo' in.

At day, a mild mannered, insanely frightened spathi goinf under the name Mr Fwiffo. However, at night, he becomes Super-Fwiffo, harbringer of doom, destroyer of entire battlefleets!

Fear him. Fear the Spathi. For they will be your undoing foul creatures!

All heil Fwiffo, the defeater of the Kohr-Ah horde. He's the real hero, Zelnick's just a sidekick :-)
Actually, I've rarely even bothered to upgrade my flagship to a real killer, since Fwiffo can manage most of the battles, with a lot lower cost.

Considering that there is no atmospheric pressure for which they can both exist, it's a rather moot question. Maybe they could design ultra-high-pressure waldos so they could torture the slylandro.

Hmm, this topic made me wonder:

What would an Illwrath do with the ZFP? Humans are quite squishy from the inside, but the ZFP ?

For that matter, what would an Illwrath do with a Slylandro gasbag?

With the ZFP, an Illwrath would have a 3 course meal.

The Slylandro would just give him gas.

And BTW, Luk, are you a fan of Invader Zim? Your "Fear him. Fear the Spathi. For they will be your undoing foul creatures!" was aweful zim-like.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I do believe that one has been answered already Wink If I recall correctly, somewhere in the code is a reference that states that they go from left to right, Zoq, Fot and Pik.

Of course, I may remember this incorrectly, would anyone care to confirm this?

Yeah, am I Fot or not? Cripes! We've been through this a million times!

Looking at sc2/src/sc2code/comm/zoqfot/zoqfotc.c, the only creatures that talk are the Zoq and the Pik. Which I guess means that the Fot is the quiet guy in the middle. No wonder we never figured out who's the Fot. I wish he just would have spoken up and admitted that he's the Fot. It would have saved a lot of arguments...

Am I mistaken that he speaks in the end credits? It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I thought they threw that in.

Then again, I'm totally insane, having underwent an Excrutiator for several years (a.k.a. marriage). Grin

I'm still not convinced till I hear it from the FOT  Wink

The SC2 desginers dont even know which one the FOT is, sure they may have coded it from left to right, but you know the ZFP , they always get a lil confused, least they all agree on the Zebranky Wink
