Key jamming in 2-player mode
« on: June 24, 2003, 02:28:01 am »

I now that "famous" key jamming is not only SC2 related.

It happens in other games which have controls for two players on keyboard.

But, does anybody now any good solution to this probelm anyway?

It's a physical keyboard issue. The only suggestion is try another keyboard, or use different keys that work for your keyboard.

On some systems, control-type keys (shift, control, alt, option, command...) are independent of letter-type keys (a, b, c, d... 1, 2, 3,... (punctuation)).
Try splitting the used keys up between metas and characters, with keys that are likely to be used at the same time in different categories (e.g. put left and right into the _same_ category). Or have one player use one category and the other player the other, so if you get jammed, at least it's you, not the other guy, who's getting some commands through.

Key jamming hasn't been a problem for me since I set myself up that way.

It remind me on my very old keybodr in times of 386-PCs.

At that time, when I played one vs one fighting games I had never problem with this thing compared to my firend.

Unfortunately, when I upgraded to 486, I sold old keybord and from that day I have "jamming" keyboards.

P.S.
Any suggestions on ways how to set custom config for UQM to minimize "jamming"? (examples needed)
